A new chapter….. and ‘Effervescence’

After four amazing years of restoring the vineyard we have decided to hang up our secateurs and hand it over to new guardians. We have learnt a lot about viticulture and producing wine in a cool climate and experienced all kinds of challenges that working outside in rural Wales with no electricity and only a caravan for shelter can throw at you! But mostly we have had a great time and grew to love this piece of land and the tranquility of the countryside.

Lucy and Dan Alford took over in January 2021 and renamed it ‘The Dell Vineyard’, they completed pruning in record time, have already planted some new vines and have the vineyard looking splendid. They have plans to continue planting nearby and we wish them every success for the future.

Meanwhile we are very excited to introduce our first sparkling wine from Pen y Clawdd vineyard. 2018 had excellent weather with lots of sunshine and the grapes ripened beautifully. The results are a delightful sparkling and rosé sparkling. We are thrilled to now be marketing the rosé sparkling which we have named ‘Effervescence’.

This versatile wine has a stunning, pale pink colour, and a creamy, long lasting mousse. It makes the perfect aperitif for celebratory occasions but can also be enjoyed with an array of food such as seafood, risotto, BBQ or goat’s cheese.

Effervescence is a dry wine made from 37% Pinot Noir and 63% Seyval Blanc. Spending just under 2 years on the lees has added finesse and complexity to the delicate red fruit aroma.
